'Most innovative' ARPRO® BMW shares its success with JSP in receiving "GRAND INNOVATION AWARD" in the Body-Interior category at the 11th SPE Automotive Awards.1 November 2007 - JSP, the world leading supplier of ARPRO® announces recognition of successful collaboration with the BMW Group in the design of an innovative new seat incorporating ARPRO®. The plastics specialists from BMW's Technology-Interior department at the Landshut plant were celebrating at the recent Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) awards ceremony as they won a 'Grand Innovation Award' for their "Sandwich Back" seat design. Karl Niebauer, head of the Technology-Interior section said "The engineers at BMW and JSP together with tool-designer Schraml closely together to develop the new sandwich technology." As the authority in engineered plastic foams and their capabilities, JSP were able to help the BMW Technologists derive maximum benefit from ARPRO® expanded polypropylene. The challenge was to unite the material properties of ARPRO® with the specific requirements of injection moulding technology and deliver the high quality and efficiency objectives of the automotive industry. Crucial to the granting of the award was the fact that we were able to meet all our design criteria: strength and stiffness, functionality and security, weight and cost. |
