Industrial Engineering for ARPRO Applications

JSP’s Industrial Engineering services turn great ideas into high-performance EPP products. From early-stage development to series production, our experts help optimise design, tooling and processes to maximise value and minimise environmental impact.

Developing Your Ideas in EPP

More than just a material supplier, as global experts in EPP (expanded polypropylene) manufacturing, JSP can guide and develop your idea from prototype to full production. To achieve a successful and profitable manufacturing process, the equipment, process parameters and product design need to be optimised for function, cost-effectiveness and for sustainability. From our Innovation Centre in Düsseldorf, our expert team works alongside customers to develop and optimise their designs and processes to maximise the customer's benefit and minimise our impact on the environment. From making the process more sustainable and less carbon intensive to aiding the transition into series production, JSP has the expertise and the tools to turn an idea into a reality, offering guidance and expertise at every step along the way.

Sustainable Processes

Our environmental footprint is important to us, and we take great care in keeping any impact we have on the environment to the absolute minimum, and this extends to our customers too.

We work closely with our customers to reduce their environmental impact, and by optimising their moulding process, we can greatly reduce the carbon footprint of moulded EPP components. Reductions are achieved with the use of sustainable ARPRO material, coupled with sustainable design of tooling and moulding equipment.

With the use of digital tools and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technology, it is possible to analyse and optimise manufacturing processes, to reduce energy consumption, reduce scrap rates and defects, use a smaller volume of material, and overall achieve a lower carbon footprint.

Significant carbon savings can be achieved when switching to a sustainable ARPRO solution.

Advanced Development

JSP’s application development engineers work in partnership with our customers and utilise cutting edge moulding techniques and digital tools to design, develop and validate the next generation of ARPRO parts and processes.

Advanced development consists of two steps:

1. Solution development – in this step we design the solution for production to achieve fit and function. This includes the feasibility of the design based on OEM specifications, plans for moulding processes and quality control, and solution price estimation.

2. Process development – in this step we design and validate a process to mould a physical part. This includes the moulding and measurement of parts, evidence of production capability, and process design guide.

The benefits of developing applications with JSP experts is a reduction of existing system weight and cost, whilst at the same optimising tool investment and the number of prototypes necessary for validation. Our application development engineers will prove what is possible using ARPRO material and the range of benefits it brings to the application.

With the huge design freedom afforded by ARPRO, creativity is the only limitation.

Series Development

Following successful validation of development parts and processes, JSP can help turn the prototype product into full series production.

Series development consists of two steps:

1. Series part development – in this step, we convert evidence of production capability from advanced development into a series part. We use design guides to engineer series parts, followed by the evidence of production capability.

2. Series process development – in this step, we validate the readiness of the moulding process for series manufacturing. This includes copying development tools to the series tool, performing run rate, starting series production, and continuous improvement after start-up.

We assist our customers with the optimisation of their components, process and tooling, to allow a seamless transition into full series production. Utilising our experience, and ARPRO Partners network, we are also able to support with setting up the series manufacturing process.

Design of Experiments

Utilising the vast array of equipment, processing machinery and digital tools at the JSP Innovation Centre, we can support our customers in designing and executing experiments with the objective to illustrate the performance options of the EPP moulding process.

Our laboratory is fully digital and equipped with state-of-the-art sensors and data capture tools, allowing the impact parameters throughout each step of the moulding cycle, to be determined.

Using these digital tools, and by tweaking process variables and inputs, we can perform a series of manufacturing trials with the goal of balancing the cost of the process and the quality of the application.

JSP's expert engineers will work alongside our customers in a confidential environment in our laboratory in the Innovation Centre. We also offer remote access to experimental data via our Dynamic Data Exchange web application.
